Massive Out-of-Town Shopping Complex Proposed at M20 J7

December 8, 2013 3:48 PM

Local lib dem Councillors for North and East Wards discuss the application with Jasper Gerard.More evidence has emerged of developers and landowners exploiting the current planning policy vacuum at Conservative-run Maidstone Borough with the submission of yet another planning application at Newnham Court. The scale of the proposed development, alongside a 900 space visitor car park and frequent HGV deliveries will inevitably have a big impact upon an already congested road network. Locals also fear that the emissions and loss of trees and other vegetation that will result from such a huge energy-hungry development and associated road widening will make worse local light pollution, noise problems and air pollution.

The inevitable negative impact upon the commercial viability of Maidstone Town Centre and the visual harm to the setting of the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

If you have a view on this massive development proposal please make sure your voice is heard by emailing to Maidstone Borough Council quoting MA/13/1931 at devmancorporatesupport@maidstone.gov.uk or write to Planning Department, Maidstone BC, King Street, Maidstone ME15 6JQ by the 16th December.
