Road Safety Improvements - East ward

Following concerns raised by local residents, Lib Dem County Councillor Ian Chittenden (below left) is his using his Devolved budget to provide the following road safety improvements along, what is, the busiest road in Maidstone;

The white lining and slow signs have now finally been refreshed.

Provision of four additional dropped kerbs along the footpath path at the junction with Windsor Close - This work team and should be carried out in the next 4 to 6 weeks.

An extension of the existing 30 mph speed limit up to the Chiltern Hundreds roundabout. This has been agreed with bioth the police and KCC Highways and has now to go through the formal process, but should be in place by the end of the summer. Sittingborne road IC MC

The provision of a Speed Indicator Device (SID) or similar to reduce speed of traffic coming up the Sittingbourne Road.

Ian Commented, "The provision of the SID has been agreed in principle. The technical details will have to be agreed and I will have to approve the final estimate. Only then can the legal formalities of advertising the proposals etc., can be undertaken.
