Proposed Public Spaces Protection Order

Following a number of reports of anti-social behaviour Councillor Derek Mortimer Vice Chairman of the Communities Housing and Environment Committee investigated why the Proposed Public Spaces Protection Order, which would give the council greater powers to control anti-social behaviour in the town centre, had not yet been introduced .

Following this intervention the necessary work to implement the order is now taking place and hopefully the order will soon be activated.

Cllr Derek Mortimer

Derek said;: "The Public Spaces Protection Order will assist the Council to protect our public spaces, and the people that use them, but unlike some other councils we will not be targeting the homeless for being homeless, but will be focusing on protecting the public from aggressive and genuinely anti -social behaviour "
